Tax Savings for Separated and Divorced Parties
A creative and lawful use of tax deductions for separated spouses can result in substantial savings to both parties. For example, in cases where parents have multiple children, the parties could enter into an agreement whereby each parent had primary residence of one of two children which would entitle each parent to make a claim for an equivalent to spouse tax deduction. Big Tax Savings on Legal Fees for Collecting Support
We are delighted to report that Canada Customs now allows tax deductions for all legal fees incurred to obtain or vary child or spousal support. This represents a huge change of policy by the federal government.
